Newbie in Germany

I am Althea and moved to Germany from South Africa with my 2 daughters just over a year ago. My husband is German but we met and got married in South Africa.

I thought it will take me one year to settle in and get used to my new environment but I think I might need another year before I consider myself not a Newbie anymore

I have completed my DAF B1 German Language course last year and will be starting with B2 next month.

I was working full-time in South Africa at the largest Media Company in the Business Information department. At the moment I am unemployed and considering studying full time while looking for work

My daughters seems to be adapting perfectly in Germany and both are enjoying it here.

I am looking forward to hearing from other Expats

We're also from SA. My wife is also German. 7years in DE now, for us. Were are you in DE? We live in Schopfheim (Lorrach area) SW point of DE. "InterNations" website is also s great way to meet other SA-cans. I am also there. - Francois

We live in Frankfurt. Yes I am also a member of Internations group. Seven years in DE would probably make you almost native? I am still struggling a bit but I know I will get there soon
