Hi,

We will be coming to Beirut this weekend and I was wondering how much a packet of Marlboro's (or similar cigarettes) cost in Lebanon? My husband is a smoker so I was just wondering if it is worth stocking up in duty free before we get there :) Also, is smoking allowed in restaurants and bars? Are smoking and non smoking sections seperated? Very excited about our trip :) Thank you!

Welcome to Expat.com junie :)

I hope members from Lebanon will try to advise you accordingly concerning smoking rules and the price of cigarettes there. Let me seize this opportunity to wish you a nice trip there.

P.s. Smoking is bad for health :)

Regards ;)

Hello and thank you. Yes I know smoking is very bad for your health, thats why I quit 7 years ago :) Its my husband who smokes not me :)

Yud

Wooow, you have succeeded in quitting! Congrats ;) Me, I am struggling to quit since several years... But I can't :( :'(, its highly addictive though I know it is very bad for health :(

However, I think in Duty Free it will be much cheaper than in local commercials. May be your husband shall buy his stock at the duty free shops :)...

Well, I read somewhere that a packet of cigarettes cost something like $1,50 in Lebanon but I can't be sure that this is valid info as it was an old article. If thats how much cigarettes currently cost in Beirut we would be better off buying locally (we might stock up some from duty free on the way back though :) )

Yud

Cool idea, however, I tried to search on Google and I came with something like this:- A pack of cigarettes costs an average of $1.30 in Lebanon.

Here is the direct link of the article which dated some months ago. (May 2010)
