Malaysia Resident Status - Help

Hi Friends,

I landed in KL on June 25, 2015 and have been in the country till Dec 31, 2015 (a total of 189 days). Of these, I have spent 8 full days out on a social visit.

Now 182 days being the cut-off to qualify as a resident, do I qualify as a resident tax payer for 2015?
I have read somewhere that a social visit not exceeding 14 days is taken as part of the 182 days, in which case I may qualify as a resident tax payer.

Please advise!!!

Thanks,
Anwar

Yes and no. Ask ten officials in malaysia a question and get 11 different answers. Some think the 14 days is per year. Some think the day travelling is counted as day away. Some say you have to be here on 31 dec.

But usually you would count as resident. But tbe tax official you get decides otherwise little you can do. Seen that happen!
