eea family permit and uk visa

hello. maybe meant for the uk forum, if so please give me the link. i am about to go for interviews to get a uk visa. i have a permis de sedere valid till october 2016. Someone told me that  once o go to uk and apply for residency i am not allowed to leave the uk until i get my residency. is that true?

YES , you wont be able to leave the country because they will hold your passport till you dont get the residency card.
