Hi Friends,

I would like to seek inputs on tax formulation in Malaysia.

How do we calculate that a expat becomes a cittizen for calculating tax i mean not flat 26% but based on tax slab.

Is it from the day  he has landed in Malaysia or every year from Jan -June a flat tax and then it is reduced based upon income tax slab.

To be specific, if i enter malaysia in 22 Oct and moving out on June 5 earning from day one.

Then will i have to pay flat tax on my 2015 and 2016 income or as overall it has completed six months it would be based on tax slab.

Thank You,Ajay

Depends what tax official you get. This is the third world happens (its arguable what the real position)

A harsh interpretation is that you are not tax resident at all. So anything you get back is a bonus!
