Moving to Myanmar with your family

Post new topic

Hello everybody,

When settling abroad with your spouse and children, the expatriation process requires an extensive preparation.

What are the considerations to take into account when moving to Myanmar with your family? What challenges have you faced? How did your children adapt to their new environment?

What is your recipe for a successful family expatriation in Myanmar?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience,

Bhavna

Hey

I experienced this process  3.years  ago  when my family  moved here. It was important  that we find a good school for our child. We looked for  housing nearby the school as the traffic is predictable. Find a home  with generator  facilities  as power cut is often.

From there  we mapped out facilities nearby.eg. Supermarket, hospital and drinking water supplies. We made sure the house is safe and well  connected.

Find a good reliable  shipping  company  to have our items moved here. Made sure they are well  connected  to get your stuff out of custom smoothly.

I hope this is helpful

Hi Maxychong,

I am a Malaysian currently working and residing in Australia. Recently, I have been approached by a company for a job opportunity in Yangon. We are still in the initial stage of discussion. As I am married with 2 kids, I need to look for a good school to continue their education. As I have to pay for school fee (they have asked me to factor the tuition fee and proposed my desired compensation package to them), my contact in Yangon has asked me to benchmark International School of Yangon. I tried to do some research online but unfortunately there is not much  information available online. Please can you recommend some good schools that charges competitive rates.

Hey

International  school rates varies from grade to grade and system Cambridge or American.

The range is could go up from USD 5 know to USD 10k per semester.

Hi,
I would suggest International school which is highly reputable and equivalent to international standard so it will be easier when they grow up and attend the university  in abroad such as USA or UK,etc.
