Is Ecuador a friendly country for South Asians

Welcome to the Ecuador forum, Priya.

Here in Quito, the capital, the locals are typically welcoming to new arrivals who are friendly and show an effort to communicate in español.

This is an international city, one of whose main shopping thoroughfares is Naciones Unidas (United Nations).

Ecuadorians, especially in the current sour economy, are zealous in protecting their jobs/livelihood.

So, as retirees not seeking to take job(s) that would otherwise go to locals, you and the dollars you inject into the economy will be roundly welcomed.

Ecuadorean don’t strike me as racists. Half if not more of Ecuador is brown skinned. Why not visit Ecuador for a month or two and see for yourself. The term Moreno/Morena (brown) is even deemed endearing here in proper context. Then again, I’m just sharing my observation of society in this regard, as I’m not brown skinned, so I’m not talking from experience. But I think it’s something you don’t have to worry about as long as you conduct yourself respectfully.
