New chapter of my life starts in Jeddah next month

Hi All,

Dean from Scotland here, Next month I will be making the move from Aberdeen, Scotland to take up a new position within King Abdulaziz International Airport.

My move to Jeddah is not so much money based but to progress my career, I must admit I am very nervous about the move but it was one I had to make. I am going from being comfortable in my role and surroundings to complete unknown. I guess this is similar to most people who has made the move.

I have been doing lots of research on do's and don'ts to give me as much knowledge of how I need to lead my live when I move over.

Would be grateful for any tips on making the move

Congrats and let me tell you that you're moving to the best city in KSA others might object to that

I'm sure you've read that there are no pubs or bars around here, so activities to do in leisure time is somehow limited but you'll discover a lot when you come here.

Good luck and enjoy your stay in the magical kingdom.

I have just moved to Jeddah, on June 1, after having spent 6 years in Dhahran and 30 years in Riyadh. I guess this will be my last stop?

Live at Al Salam Compound in the Rehab District. Am retired now so have all the time in the world to interact and join anyone or group for social or sports activity.

Love to play Contract Bridge. Also play and teach jazz drums, been an IT Consultant/Specialist since 1970.

Thanks Maahi and Hamudi. Still finding my way around the newly diverted highways and streets but will get there soon enough. Been indoors most of the time since its Ramadan and not much activity outside during the day. Hopefully will initiate some activity after Ramadan when people return after their holidays.
