Insurance coverage in the Netherlands

Post new topic

Kenjee

Hello everyone,

Moving abroad requires adequate insurance coverage.

What type of insurance expatriates need the most in the Netherlands: health, house or liability insurance? All of them? Do they come as a package?

Are there other insurance options to consider like critical illness, damage or property insurance?

Is it better to purchase insurance from an expat insurance specialist or from a local insurance provider?

And what about insurance costs?

Tell us about your experience in the Netherlands.

Thanks!

Kenjee

As of my student life in the Netherlands, i think the most needed insurance type is the health insurance one. Being a master's graduate of Wageningen UR, class September 2013, I had my health insurance provided by the university. The Insurance company is named AON Nederland. I think it provided for me and my colleagues a pretty acceptable level of service. So, I recommend it for anyone seeking a basic health insurance in the Netherlands.

Unfortunately, I do not have an idea about any other types of insurance that can be provided by insurance companies in the Netherlands.

Good day Kenjee

Health insurance the most important. You will need someone(Dutch Native) to explain it to you and it will depend your situation.Especially in the Netherlands works different from where I come from. If you work for a company they recommend their Health Insurance provider. If this is not the case you can google  Expad Health insurance and Holland Health Insurance. It will provide local and International Health Insurance companies.
The second one I would say Personal Liability Insurance especially  when you considering riding a bicycle in case of  an accident. Also when someone gets hurt in your house they can also claim against you. ABN-AMBRO Bank  provide an affordable package for personal liability. This include :

-Third liability
- House content
- Burling
- legal aid

Life policy with Critical illness or Life threatening deceases not sure. I have a good policy in my  country of origin who fully honours  your being out of country, therefore at this point I am not going to take  additional insurance.

ABN -AMBRO  bank go to their website. The site is user friendly and you can choose English if you do not understand Dutch. They have a variety of insurances.

Annette
