Hello everyone
The sun is finally shining in London and I can't quite believe it.
I am after some advice from all of you helpful people out there.
Within one year I hope to be living in Budapest with my Hungarian wife.
The obvious question is what can I do when I am there - is it going to be based around teaching English.
Am after any hints and advice from everyone as to where to look for work and am willing to try my hand at anything . I am only an English speaker but do hope to do a course to try and brush up on the basics.
Loads of questions relating to ex pats - do the English have a meeting up place ?? Is there any English language radio stations / newspapers ??
That said I want to get out there and meet new friends / opportunities with the hope of obtaining work of some sort.
Many Thanks
Robin

English speakers seeking English teaching jobs is a congested field. Unless you have an English teaching diploma of some sort, you will be at a disadvantage in the local market.

But there are many on-line job sites for English speakers seeking employment in Budapest. That is probably your best option to match your skills with job options,

I know of no English radio in Hungary, but I can pick up English radio using short wave, and there alway ls Internet radio.

Newspapers are limited. Most are just online. I read http://www.portfolio.hu/en/ myself, as I am interested in finance mostly, and they are not so politically biased as most news sources in Hungary.

Other options include (but they all have some political bias):

http://budapesttimes.hu/http://www.budapestsun.hu (currently offline ... maybe dead? I do not know.)

IBM is re-invest in its Székesfehérvár data center. Over 400 new jobs expected. Maybe look in that.

There are lots of companies that might be interested in english speaking DBAs, check out Morgan Stanley, MSCI, EPAM, Cognizant, TCS, Accenture, Prezi, Ericsson, SAP, etc.
