Hello winninglovely,
If you have been accepted to study at university in Bulgaria you should have received a letter confirmation or whatever document the university produce.  Here, we issue 'unconditional offer letter'.  With the letter, as an international student you should have received information about the visa procedure.  Most probably you will be entitle to get a 'student visa' for the duration of your studies.  So, you have just to follow the visa application process; normally there is a 'visa department' in every university which is responsible for the visa procedures.  As far as I am aware, you may not be able to secure contract in Bulgaria, unless the employment (it should be part-time) does not require a formal relationship with your eventual employer.  You are saying that you are going to study and believe me, I do not think that you can cope with both, if you want to be serious in your studies.  Study abroad is a serious investment, so plan well your future move.  If ever you wish to come here in Mauritius to obtain a British degree, I am your guide. I can give you all 'in house' info, plus I have experience with students from Nigeria. Good luck!

If you have a work permit - YES. You might be required to get a conscent by your university.

As an International Student outside of the European Union you need to check your visa Status. In most cases yes a student can work but a maximum of 20hours a week and no more.
The other thing one has to remember is you cannot skip classes or tutorials lecture etc basically your main priority should be studies and not working as if your university reports you to the Internal ministry than they have the right to revoke your visas.
Read the law before you embark on the mission to work.
Next finding a place to work is not easy and especially if you do not know how to read and write bulgarian.. trust me things are very different if you know the lingo no matter how little but so long as you can understand and have a conversation you can go far.
If you want to know more you can easily find us on the internet so write to us directly mentioning you read this on expat.com
Enjoy and stay safe

If you got the visa, then you are ok

If you work, get paid in cash only  ;)

Perhaps you'd like to explain why??  If it's for evading taxes or other issues with the authorities, please remember that advising others to break the law is ill advised on this site.

What? No, small work by students isn't illegal, please check upthread.

Cash is just a rule of thumb, anywhere in the world

Taxes are a rule of thumb, anywhere in the world.  Working 'under the table' and avoiding paying taxes or declaring income is typically illegal.

Yes small work by students is legal; provided they have authorization to do so and declare their income and pay any necessary taxes.

Again, do you have a valid reason that one should work 'cash only'? :/
