Info about PNG and call costs

Post new topic

Hi there,

My partner has a contract to work in PNG for 6 months. Can anyone tell me about Port Moresby and will he be safe?

Also, do you know how much it costs to call people in PNG?

I have to say that since I require Internet access, I use Skype exclusively to contact friends and family back in the USA. I have it installed (free and simple) on all my family's machines including those belonging to my parents (in their 70's) children (in their 20's) and grandchildren (oldest is 10). It almost always works well for us and, not counting the Internet access costs, is FREE.

You'll hear a lot of opinions about Moresby from a lot of different people. For me, a 50-yo female living alone most of the time (my husband has recently moved here, but is on a 4 weeks on/1 week off assignment elsewhere in the country) in the area of Port Moresby called simply "Town". I've been here a year now, and love it. But, with only a year on my tab, I'm no expert. I can understand that there are some who find the place "dangerous", but I have had no problems at all.

I wish you and your partner the best of luck during his time here.
