Hello... all you Expats...

Im a Portuguese Engineer that have already acepted an offer to move in Libya and now after reading almost all your comments and older posts, decided to write a new one... about the same... probably because I still haven´t grab the big picture...

1)Social Life - Some says that I will not have one. Others always reports to family reunions or kids parties. But at the end... there are no bars, or there is a bar but only selling non-alcoholic products?

2) Its better to meet new expats at the Hotel's Bar's? Or there is a kind of a terrace to drink a coffee or a tea and grab a newspaper from around the world and luckly I can chat a bit?

3) The Internet services? Are they cheap? And about communications? Mobile ones?

4) Is there any house cleaning services? Laundry?

Well I will move in February, and I just want to know if anyone can answer me soon. Because I really dont have much more time to plan all the details... So I really need one happy spririt out there...

I already lived in Spain and France and have already been to Maroccos and Dubai, Romania... Soo I have experience on living abroad... my problem is to get new info... My type of info...

Please feel free to contact me directly to miguelmarquesmail@gmail.com

Best Regards Future Neighbours...

Welcome. :)
I'm sure some people go to coffee places to socialise, but if people are wanting  'an adult beverage' they goto eachother's houses. There are always plenty of parties and events going on that you definitely wouldn't have children at ;)
Hotel 'bars' are the last places I'd expect to find any resident expats!

Thanks Mudman.

And about laundry/ cleaning services? Can I manage to find someone?

The working week is normaly from Monday to Friday? 5 days?

Depends what you're doing. The week is Sun-Thur, weekend is Fri & Sat, but most people in construction work Sat.

Point 1 & 2 are already explained by mudman whereas for (3) There is only one ISP here that is cheap and so are the mobile networks.  Currently they are doing some maintenance so by the time you'll arrive WIMAX will be back and up again(only if you can get the max. signal)

Cleaning services will mainly depend where you will be living. Quite a few laundry shops, some of them actually are good(really)

Hope you enjoy your time here.
