Part-Time living in Malta?

PUNA

Hi there!

I'm from Ljubljana (Slovenia) and I'm thinking of spending half of the year (november - april) somewhere close to the sea - and where the sun is shining :)

I'm after intimate places with character, good sunny weather, old and beautiful town architecture, welcome locals, amazing food, art & culture. Unfortunately I have never visited Malta but I think this option could be close to my ideal?

I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you very much, Pia.

Hi Pia

It does sound as if Malta might be a good candidate for you to consider as a country.

There is lots of history and heritage here, and certainly, in places, "old and beautiful town architecture".  Though, to be fair, in other places, you will also find a fair bit of new and not-so-beautiful town architecture.  The northerly island of Gozo is more rural.

The weather over the winter, while not always perfect, is probably as good as anything Europe has to offer.

There is quite a range of cultural events for such a small country.  You might like to check out the websites of the Arts Council - http://www.maltaculture.com - and the St James Cavalier Arts Centre in Valletta - http://www.sjcav.org/ .  Indeed, if you haven't looked at it, you might find some useful information at the country's official tourist site - http://www.visitmalta.com

Why not check us out for a week or so this winter and see what you think?
