Hi - I am desperate to move to Egypt but am coming up against a brick wall when trying to find out about requirements for Egypt - visa's, length of stay, whether i will be allowed to work etc - does anyone have any advice?

Yud

Thanks Yud - the internet is proving to be a bit of a minefield - so much info but hard to see what is relevant!  People's experiences count for so much more!

Well getting Egypt visa is easy. this is what I did

I came to Egypt on tourist visa for 3 month then I got the Job and got it converted to work permit. So no issues landing into Cairo. even if your tourist visa is expired and you don't find a job by that time simply renew the visa for a very nominal charges

Thanks for that alimirza.  Do you apply at the embassy in Cairo for a different visa?  The information on the internet is often conflicting and always confusing!  I have two more holidays booked for Egypt this year and then at the beginning of 2012 is when I will move there - so I have some time for research!

did you search this forum for simular questions?? because I can remember someone asking the same questions a few weeks ago. maybe that's why you don't get much answers.

well ...process is simple . if your coming on tourist visa and it expires ..simply pay the fee and renew it for next 1 or 2 months more.... its peace of cake no big deal in Egypt to extend tourist visa

Hello,

don't forget we are now in Egypt close to new Government and new system and may be everything will change so i think she must wait until we know what will happen in few next months. may be new system will make the same process which it done with Egyptians when we need to visit other countries.

thanks to you all for your replies.  I have looked through previous topics and none of them quite answered my question - apologies if it comes across as 'samey'!
Yes - i think you are right about the new government and maybe things will be different.  I think the changes will be concentrated on reform for the citizens of Egypt first though, other changes may take time but definitely something to keep an eye on.  I will have to find another form of work though as I currently manage Domestic Violence services in the UK - this isn't recognised in much of the Middle Eastern/Far Eastern countries and so my skills would be irrelevant!  I would like to look into the possibility of running women's groups though, I am learning Arabic but it is very rudimentary at present!
I would be grateful for any more comments or further advice from you all.  Take care, Paula.
