PR vs 457

Post new topic

Hi everyone,

I am currently on a dependent 457 visa (my wife as primary) and we are thinking of applying for a permanent resident visa here in Australia.  We moved to Perth in March 2016  and I have been having trouble getting a job since then. (I have a degree in accounting and is sitting for my CPA)

I was just wondering does having a PR increases your chances of getting a job? I have had a couple of calls when i was looking for work saying that they prefer people with PR rather than 457.

Really looking forward to hearing everyone's opinion! Thank you!

Many employers prefer permanent residents. If your long-term plan is to remain in Australia, then that's what you should be aiming for anyway. There are many other advantages in being a permanent resident.
