Before moving to Hong Kong, it is important to investigate the cost of living in the country.

As we did in 2015, we give you the opportunity to share your experience and tell us more about products and services average recorded prices in your town/city/area.

Don’t hesitate to let us know if the cost of living in Hong Kong has decreased or increased in the past few years.

Thanks to your help, would-be expatriates will have the opportunity to refine and better prepare their expatriation project.

> How much does it cost to rent an apartment/house in Hong Kong?

1.    How much does it cost to rent an apartment/house in Hong Kong? 
ANS: Depends on the Location and size. But an Unfurnished 2BHK will cost between HKD 12000 to HKD 18000 in Hong Kong Island and about HKD 9000 to HKD 11000 in New Territory Side. 

2. How much do you pay for your public transport tickets (bus, subway, train, tram)?
ANS: HKD 1000 is enough for 5 days a week working official from Going and coming back from Office from any point to any point of Hong Kong.

3.  Staple food: what do people eat and how much do they pay for basic food like bread, rice or pasta?
ANS: Depend on the Location, but the basic food will cost about HKD 30 to 100HKD per meal, eating out side.

4. What is your monthly grocery budget?
ANS: HKD 3000 is more than enough for a Family of Three or four members.

5. How much does it cost to see a physician/doctor/specialist in Hong Kong ? 
ANS: If you go to Gove. Clinics which are very good, it cost 50 HKD including medicine. Private Clinics HKD 350 to HKD 1500 depending on the Location.

6. What is your children's schooling monthly budget?
ANS: Depend on the age of the Kid. Local Schools are very cheap. International schools can range from 7000 HKD to 20000 HKD. All depends on which school you want and what class your kid is in.

7.  How much does it cost to fill up your car’s fuel tank?
ANS: N/A

8. How much do you pay for electricity/gas/water etc.?
ANS: Monthly HKD 800 to HKD 1000 is more than enough, with Normal consumption.

9.  How much do you pay for your Internet/phone subscription?
ANS: Depends on the plan. HKD 100 to 200 per month is fair enough.

10.  How much do you pay for your lunch pack on weekdays?
ANS: HKD 50 to HKD 60 is enough. Lots of Cheaper options are there.



11. How much do you pay for an espresso coffee?
ANS: Single HKD 18 Double HKD 25 in Star Bucks’

12.  How much do you pay for a cinema ticket?
ANS: HKD 180 to HKD 300 for one

13. How much does a gym membership cost in Hong Kong? 
ANS: HKD 250 to HKD 600
