Hi,

I'm Canadian of African descent, university educated and am exploring the options to Teach English as a Second Language in Central America. I've also looked in Asia too, but as I am in the Central America thread, I'll focus on that.

Based on those who have lived there or who have knowledge on the specific, I'm looking for recommendations for countries that have the following (if possible):

1. Good salaries, lost cost of living
2. Quality medical care
3. Countries that are generally accepting of those of African descent. (I know that it's 2017, but this question still needs to be asked).
4. Expat/ foreign teacher presence/community (I definitely would like to meet locales, but it is nice to know that there is an expat presence).
5. Safety
6. Colleges/ Universities - I have a Master's degree, and hopefully can teach english at the college/ university level

This is a huge move, and I want to do my best to make a good decision through asking questions & gathering information. Thanks.

Sad but true.

Prep early, starting with CELTA (or similar) if you don't already have it.

Very true! I am enrolled in a course to start soon. Thanks for the suggestion.
