We have been talking about loneliness when you are abroad, let's now talk about how to make friends (locals and other expats) when you're living in Brazil :top:

Which are your best tips to meet people and to make friends in Brazil??

Thanks in advance for your participation

BRASILIANT

If you speak at least some basic Portugese, register at ORKUT and create your profile there, joining any communities there will make it easy to meet Brazilians.

In real life it can be dificult to meet Brazilians, depending on the region where you are, people are very reserved and it takes some time to make friends. Don´t have to be fluent in Portugese, it helps already when you make an effort to speak Portugese. That helps a lot!

BTW, actually some Portugese knowledge is essential in order to get in contact with the local. No matter if you are in the busy center of São Paulo or somewhere in the northeastern countryside. Don´t expect anyone to speak English, not even Spanish will help very much.

:)
