Moving to KL - Schools, Localities and Other Suggestions - Please Help

SING2KL

Hi All - I have been relocated to KL from Singapore. I will be physically moving to KL in May 2017 along with my two kids aged 11 and 2. I have read through all most all threads on schools and reviews, but still haven't been able to firm up my mind on any one. Ignoring the school fees and just purely focusing on schools offering best education, please do provide your views on what you all suggest are good schools. I am currently considering Alice Smith, ELC International and Taylor International (erstwhile Garden International). My elder one is academically inclined and has a passion for tennis and piano. Hence, I am inclined to focus on schools that can help her grow both academically and help fine tune her skills in tennis and piano.

What are your views on Alice Smith Secondary School? ELC International, I have read is academically strong which is good, but I am not too sure on their sports and music focus. Do they offer classes in tennis and piano? What do you think about Taylor International?

My office will be located in KLCC. Could you suggest, best areas for residence, for each of the three schools on my list? I will not drive and intend to use taxis and public transport.

I plan to bring along my helper from Singapore. I am aware, I will have to go through the agency mode to bring her along with me into Malaysia. Can you please help me with modalities, process, agency fees, suggest good agencies etc. that can help me with the helper?

There are quite a few questions listed here and I am really depending on your advice to help me with my move to KL. Thank you very much.

Regards

Alice Smith Secondary School & ELC International, both school are not near to KLCC, 30 min from city. Therefore your choice is either get a permanent driver or permanent uber driver (private deal) to send u to & return from work.

Either u make them travel 30 min to school or for u to travel 30 min to work everyday. u need to make a choice which school to go with then u can decide the accommodation.

schools always have private school van to transport everyday from expatriate area to school. Both school have their school van sending kids back to expatriate housing area like KLCC, Bangsar, Mont Kiara, Sierramas, Desa Park city.

hope this help. all the best!

Thank you Alicia for your reply.

gardens international school is nearer here in Mont Kiara and it takes about 15 mins to reach KLCC. While GIS is surrounded by lots of accomodation options and is within walking distance. Both my niece and nephew attend GIS, very good school but its certainly the cheapest.
