Cleaning Services/Junk Removal

Does any one know of a decent cleaning company that won't cost an arm and a leg? My husband and I are moving into an old town house and the current state that it is in, well, its freakin' unbelievable! There is garbage left everywhere, lots and lots of junk needs to be removed and hauled away. After that's done, then it needs a really really deep clean! So frustrating to think of all the work that lies ahead of us since we didn't expect it to be left quite like this.

So I'm interested to know if anyone has used some kind of junk removal company over here or a domestic cleaning service- to clean an entire house?

Most likely we'll end up doing most of it I think- the junk removal part- but cleaning services might be nice to hire ;)

the council will take away large items (not sure on restrictions)

Call Bulky refuge, they will take the large items, Plenty of cleaning Co's around, you will have to look, offer family and friends some money - may work!

Thanks for the info! I'll look into it. We'll definitely be having friends come over to help- throw in some free food and beers and they'll be there :D

This company says it offers both bulk waste disposal and cleaning services.  I have no experience of it though.

Thats funny, I actually just sent an email to that very company. They seem to do everything, even handyman type stuff.

Great minds...  They do indeed sound like a very useful outfit, if they're any good.  I'd be pleased to hear what you make of them, in due course.

Thanks so much for your offer Maura! Greatly appreciated and very nice of you :)  however we already hired a guy that our neighbor knew to come by and take it all away in one truck this afternoon and also had my father-in-laws cleaning lady come to the house and do a bit of work that I hadn't gotten to yet.

Hi there,
I operate a junk removal business myself, but I'm not located where you are. I just wanted to address your concern for saving money.

When it comes to junk removal, there are basically 2 types of business models: pay by weight and pay by hour.

If you're looking to save money and the junk removal company you are planning on using is pay by weight, consider setting aside heavier items like stoves and dishwashers, and have them spend the time to go through your home or business and collect the stuff you want to get rid of, since it's not costing you their time. Most junk removal businesses operate this way.

Some, however, charge by the hour. here's where you want to collect all your rubbish beforehand and bag it all together, and don't be afraid to hand them all your heavy and bulkier items.

Just understand their pricing model and adjust your plan accordingly.
