Mistakes expats make in Portugal

Hello everyone,

Did you make any mistakes when you first moved to Portugal? What were they?

How did you address your mistakes? Did you learn anything from them?

With hindsight, what would you do differently?

Are there any tips you could give future expats in Portugal to help them avoid these kinds of mistakes?

We look forward to hearing from you!

Priscilla

hahahaha when we moved to Portugal we went into "holiday mode" for the first few months; this after vacationing in Portugal for 20+ years from the USA. So, I guess the mistake we made if it is one, is acting like we were on vacation, going out every night, etc. ... then we realized, "hey we are here for the long haul, let's just calm down". hahahahaa. My long time Portuguese friend said that this is a common occurrence. Just take it slow and absorb the laid back pace of life.
