Hi,
I am living in London now and  have been offered a job in Grenoble starting on 1st of September. I need help to find a high standard 2 bedroom flat (preferably new) in a safe and good area. I have a 3.5 year old who will have to go to school. My son is already trilingual and French is not one and I am hesitant to put him in French school as his English still not very great! I am looking for private schools. Any recommendation there? Another question, the school need and address to register my son's name? Does that mean that I can not register him until I find accommodation? I know July and august are dead, so I wonder if I can rent a flat from May for September! What a challenge! Any help?

Advice I've seen for others wanting to rent in September is to look in June (unfurnished apartments get 3 months notice). If you wait too long, they're gone!

Does your offering company have an in-house relocation specialist? Or will they line you up with one? That would take a big load off!

Thanks for your advice, that is helpful indeed, although I am looking already for rentals, but when I contact them they say they won't keep the flat empty until September from now!
No, the company is not offering any relocation help. Do you know any independent one?

Actually, your kid must go to school to the "sector accomodation school", so, you must have an address before... Except if you choose private school. In this case, your place of accomodation can be anywhere ;)

I googled "grenoble relocation" and saw a few. Definitely ask immediately how much they charge and what they will do for you. It can be outrageously expensive.
Can you go a month or two early? Even a few weeks would help. You could arrange for a short-term rental (e.g. vacation rental) from airbnb, vrbo, HomeAway at first, and look for long-term when you get there.
Do you already have a French bank? You will likely need this for long-term renting.
