Because "The internet is kleenex" to quote The Man.
Because social networking sites have been used in M.E countries to spread information.
I wouldn't be surprised if the internet goes next then the mobile network. Our satellite phones are currently out of action.

I received this tweet about an hour ago....I'm not sure whether it's true or not.

Facebook is down in Libya, everyone's using proxies to access it...something they've grown used to as YouTube has been down for over a year
