Hello everyone,

What are the requirements for acquiring citizenship in Vanuatu? For example, length of residence, language requirements, employment etc..

What formalities are involved in the process?

What is the policy on dual-citizenship in Vanuatu? Do you have to give up your former nationality?

What are the advantages and benefits of acquiring Ni Vanuatu citizenship, in your opinion?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi
We have lived in Vanuatu for 12 years now and became citizens Jan 2016.
The process is easy. You have to be residents for 10 years before applying.
Cost was 600,000vt, which includes your whole family. Plus another 50,000vt for other fees.
You do have to sit a bislama and cultural test. This was not hard.
After passing, this opens up a new world to you.
No more VIPA renewals or payments.
No more residency permits or payments
No more work restrictions. (restricted work activities)
Local ni-vanuatu do treat you differently knowing you are citizens.
Best thing we ever did here. We now call Vanuatu HOME.
