Hello everyone,

Were your professional qualifications recognised in Mexico? What country did you complete your qualifications in? What profession are you in?

Did you have to go through any formalities to get your qualifications recognised, such as to have them translated?

If your qualifications weren't recognised, were there any additional tests or exams you had to complete before you were able to practice your profession in Mexico or continue with your studies?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

A large US company sent me to Mexico in 1982.  There was no question about my qualifications.  Locals addressed me as Ingeniero as if I had passed the professional exam in Mexico.  Foreigners hired in from outside the company had no problem having their credentials recognized.  People who moved to Mexico without a job offer had experiences that ran the gamut from impossible to clear sailing depending on how critically their skills were needed, a condition which varies greatly from month to month, even week to week and obviously field to field. Retired now, I couldn't guess what professions or skilled trades may be in demand.

Yes I have received all the respect I would have gotten in the U.S.

No one has questioned my background. But I came here after retiring early, and don't work here. I have talked to doctors here and received respect and intelligent responses. They speak medicine and so do I so it would be easy to tell that I am authentic.
I have even had some suggest that I get a teaching position in the university here. I have had enough of that so I just smile.

I think if you are authentic, and have the records to prove it, plus  have a skill that is needed , it shouldn't be too difficult to find a position. Pay is another topic, but cost of living is lower.

My qualifications training and education I have worked in Asia - Africa - USA - Pacific Islands - Europe and at no time have I been asked by these countries that my education is not recognised.

I am searching for employment in Mexico and I do not expect my working education would be questioned.

I know nothing about qualifications. I am qualified to maintain a restful position
in a hammock during siesta, but no others.
