European schools

Hello everyone,

I have been doing a lot of reading since we have found out that we will be posted to Brussels. I can see that the four European schools in Brussels are pretty overcrowded and probably the only option is the 4th school in Laeken. I am curious about the school in Mol as I can't find much information about this school but it does seem a lot smaller than the others. My children started school in Australia and then we moved to Greece where they go to an International school. So their main language is English but they also speak Greek at home and learn Greek at school. They found the transition quite hard so I think a smaller school would suit them better, although I do realise Mol is not in Brussels and that living arrangements might be difficult. Is it crazy to consider commuting from Antwerp to Brussels for example?

Many thanks for any advice.

You don't say whether your application to European school would be 1,2 or 3 as places depend on which category.

You also dont state your nationality but I assume greek.

The Greek section of European school Brussels is far from overcrowded so it would seem the obvious choice especially if category 1 as you say greek is home language.

Thanks for your reply.

We are category 1 and I am English. My children have had their entire schooling in English with Greek taught as a foreign language in Australia and they have one period a day of Greek in their current school, which follows the English National curriculum. So I would imagine they would enroll in the English section and be able to study Greek in secondary.

So I dont understand your problem. If you're cat 1 and British or Irish your children will be allocated a place in one of the 4 eebs. I assume work is in Brussels when writing that. Have you applied for places?

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't say there was a problem as my understanding is that there will be places at one of the schools but my initial post was inquiring about the school in Mol as it is smaller. So I was wondering if anyone would be able to give any feedback about this school. We haven't made any applications yet as we will be looking at enrollment for September 2018.
