New to site..100's of questions

Hi, welcome to the site. I will try to answer some of those for you.
If the fruit has a skin, then you can peel and eat, if not I know I wash my fruit no matter where I buy it, even in the USA.
In some areas the water is safe to drink, but in many it is questionable, however most Ecuadorians and gringos I know drink bottled no matter what and that is more the norm in a lot of the world I see. There are water purification systems here to purchase and many do a good job, reverse osmosis is my choice.
I will assume you are a USA citizen and if so, you can come into Ecuador and you will be given a 90 day tourist visa..you can come and go as you please with this visa, just can not stay over 90 days in a year from first entering. There are many other types of visas, but they require some thought, money and time. I hope that helped in some small way.

What is the cost of auto fuel? If a visa only allows you to stay for 90 days a year, how can someone come to retire in Ecuador? Do the Ecuadorians resent the idea of Americans retiring in their country? If you purchase a home, are you required to hire a house keeper?

Why would they resent it ? In fact, you see lots of foreigners traveling/living here from a lot of countries.

I believe you need to file for residency to avoid the 90 day. You can actually stay more than 90 days, but you will need to pay a fine before leaving.

Some people have housekeepers, it's really up to you ! My parents have a 3 store house and they need a housekeeper.
