Computer getting searched when entering Kuwait?

Post new topic

AJtheMotorcyclist

Hello my name is AJ I'm moving to Kuwait with my wife in just a few days for her teaching job. I love playing video games in my spare time and have several like Fallout 4, Call of Duty loaded on my laptop and external Hard Drives that could be considered graphic or violent. Should I worry about my computer get searched and or confiscated when I enter the country?

Ribosom

No. :)

Never heard of anyone having their laptop checked, but even if they did, violence is not censored here, only kisses and titties. Go figure.

Ok thanks, the way my wife has been talking about the code of conduct stuff its got me paranoid. She said they can search your computer and hard drives if they feel like it.

Isn't that true for most countries - especially US of A? :)

Bottom line is, don't worry unless you got some nasty stuff on your laptop which would be considered illegal elsewhere anyway. You won't end up in prison for having a desktop background depicting a fine bottle of single malt. :)

lol ok, I do also have some games with sexual content or are extremely graphic like GTA and Postal which is banned in some countries. Also I realize Ive got movies and shows like Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Hangover. This is my 1st time out of the country and Kuwait seems to be extremely conservative to me coming from a country with basically little to no content censorship.
Never heard of a US citizen having there comp searched here that would be a big Constitutional rights violation in my eyes(although the TSA dosnt seem to care about that anyway)

There is nothing to worry about; relax and welcome to Kuwait. You will soon have a chance to dispel some misconceptions we both had. Some things will surprise in a positive way, and some in the negative - so at the end it will all even out. ;)
