Leasing a Car

Try KIB,(Kuwait International Bank) they are easy to deal with! I leased a Kia Optima 2011 through them without even having a 3 months old account with them! (I opened the account and in one week i got the car)

A bit suprised to hear that.Did they tell you why they will not lend to Al Shaya's employees??

Not said directly why but understand they had a few people run and leave car!!!

First question they asked was who do you work for, then it was we won't even consider leasing to you unless you have a Kuwaiti sponsor who banks with us.

Then I sent application in on line and one of there guys phoned and said credit all good but would need to have sponsor or letter from my bank to guarentee or letter from Alshaya to guarentee or to deposit 3250KWD in an account with them.

Actually thinking of doing that for ease but just hate being made to do something lol

I will be coming over in June so let's hope I will not be facing the same issues.By the way how long did it take you to get your driving license and what do you make of life in Kuwait so far?

Hi Easy m - when you first land and are still on your visit visa you can use your international license to drive. Once your residency is stamped you must have a kuwaiti license.
Process as follows;
British embassy for translation of uk license
to license office in your correct residential area, ensure you have work permit from company, get paperwork
take to police chief in Shuwaik, ensure you have letter of salary and no objection from firm, leave 1 week
back to license office
then to blood test
then eye test
back to license office see four or five desks get license
About 3 weeks and 100kd.

I am enjoying, found gr8 place to stay andshare apartment so bit of company.Yes not alot to do weekends and ofcourse I have not been through the summer but to be honest by time watch a couple movies etc weekend has gone

There is plenty to get on with been bowling, ice skating, gonna start diving and want to get to the desert, so you right there is things to do.

That said its different to western views about things to do?? If that makes sense lol
