Cheques

Hi all

Maybe someone can help me on the following problem: I am working at the university and I have two options how to get my salary: either by cheque or by bank transfer onto a Maltese bank account. I don't have an account on a Maltese bank, and since I will probably stay only for four months, it's probably not worth to open one. I am not used to cheques, so I might ask some silly questions below.

These are my questions: What's the easiest way for me to get my salary either in cash (without paying too much commission) or to transfer it to my Swiss bank account? Can I cash cheques at the bank counter without having an account? Is it possible in principle to cash Maltese cheques in another country?

Cheers,
Tobias

Thanks for the answer. I thought it wouldn't be that easy.
