Hi we have bitten bullet and starting out countdown to live to the Dordogne. However I've not done anything as yet re health.

The plan is to run B&B and small restaurant. I will still be working part time in UK (remotely) and we will t have any UK residence. Tax etc taken in U.K.

Business will start in New Year with B&B and then restaurant in spring.

Should I apply for S1 (or its replacement) I'm Irish but worked all my life in Uk and would be good to ge the S1 toncover. The form is easy enough looking at it but it assumes I'm in france? Anyone any advice on the right way to get in on my current Uk cover and then move across once we run business (late Spring). I have a partner and a son so we will need cover.

French health insurance is administered by the social security system; “Sécurité Sociale”, and your “Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie”. For residents in France, a “mutuelle” (top-up insurance cover) covers the cost of healthcare that is not covered by a Carte Vitale.

In order to obtain a social security card for health care; a “Carte Vitale”, you must first register with your local CPAM; you are advised to contact them in order to obtain details of the documents they require for registration. Mutuelle services are provided by insurance companies and there are many different offers to consider.

You can find out more about how to plan for your healthcare if you are going to live abroad on a permanent basis on the NHS website.

Before you go to France on holiday make sure you bring a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
with you, and take out private travel insurance.

Thanks - we have EHiCs and travek insurance. However we're moving permentally so I'm specifically wanting to know how to get my Health paid for while I'm still working from UK? The S1 form has been replaced by another I suppose it's how and when to apply for that? Anyone completed the S1 and any learning?
