Considering Guangzhou

Post new topic

Donte

Hi all,

Good day!

I'm considering a job in GZ that offers about RMB385k p.a. to be based in GZ. While I'm happy with the offer, but I really need some good advice as to the following areas of the city/country that I have absolutely no idea:
- Safety in GZ
- Schooling (International school affordable?)
- Clealiness/Air quality (my kids are sensitive to dust)
- Transportation options
- Housing options(with pleasant, clean and quiet environment)
- Overall environment (language, healthcare, etc)

I can speak both Putonghua and Cantonese fluently, that wouldn't be a problem.

But, hope you can provide some guidance.

Cheers!=D

The answer is quite individual actually
Here is just for your reference,

Safety in GZ- Not bad. But you should be careful staying away from places where it is crowed with people. And bring with you as less as possible cash. Look after your property when you are travelling.

- Schooling (International school affordable?)
The best option should be AIS- American International School
BIS- British International School. You can choose one of them according to your kids' preference.

- Clealiness/Air quality (my kids are sensitive to dust)
The city is not clean, and the air quality is not good.
Better choose to live in a place not in the centre of the city.

- Transportation options
Better to use public service. And the intitial option should be choose subway if it is available in your place. Otherwise the you can take a bus. You can serch on-line which line by calling 12580. Or serch on the internet zuoche.com. Also, you can take a taxi if you speak Chinese.

- Housing options(with pleasant, clean and quiet environment)
Golden Arch in Ersha island, Guangzhou city is an ideal option

- Overall environment (language, healthcare, etc)
There will be no problem if you speak Mandarin.
