I've stayed in Koh Samui for 3 months and loved it How can I stay long term but generate a good income from business ?
Do I get business visa and work permit and then look to start or buy a business?
Income target 50-100k baht a month
Advice appreciated

Koh Samui, run as fast as you can.

From many posts that I have read, be extremely careful when sitting up or operating a business in Thailand.

wow!
you need to do some homework
there are several Government Depts involved in getting a company registered and a work permit attached to that company
DBD, Labour Dept, Immigration, Revenue Dept, Social Security, bank accounts, accounts and taxes

List goes on and on - and surprise surprise its all in Thai language - so if you are serious then you need to get a professional to do this for you

I always tell clients to not expect 1 baht for the first year as a lot of money will be going out the door until you establish yourself. If you make money straight up then good, then plan to keep making money
