Hi all.

Hoping to get some advice. I have been dating a Dominican girl, who lives in Panama currently. She has a good job, house, car. She has a Canadian Tourist Visa. So I am confident that this isn't a ticket out type relationship.

So what I am looking for some advice on, is what is the best way to to take our relationship to the next level. Marriage. Living together.

I have a business in Canada, and would like to bring her to Canada as are primary residence. She currently has a tourist visa, so visiting is not an issue, but I believe it is limited to 6 months.

Is there any advantages of getting married in Dominican, Panama, or Canada? If I understand the process correctly. Once married, she can reside in Canada with me, and request to have her Tourist Visa Extended prior to the 6 month expiry.

Just looking for any tips or advice to make this transition as easy as possible. Or thoughts or recommendations on hiring a lawyer that specializes in this process?

There are a number of people with experience in this area. I am not one of them.  I am sure others will give you advice.

I think you should be speaking with a Canadian lawyer as they will have the.most current info for you. I would not trust a Dominican lawyer to be knowledgeable on this.

Good luck and please keep us posted!! It could help others.

You can apply for PR under the family class. To be eligibal you need to be married or live together for at least 12 month.

You will also need to proof that the relationship is genuine. Pictures, proof of joint account, marriage certificate... you can finde all the necessary info on the cic canada website
