No more fruit on fruit trees alongside Zhongshan city street

Went to visit Zhongshan this summer.  The city was as beautiful as years before.  It was the season of lychee, longan and mango.  I enjoyed looking at those red and green fruit growing in sizes along city street.  It's a distraction of the hot and humid climate.

But to my disappointment I saw no fruit on the trees this summer of 2017.  I heard the city authority sprayed some sort of grass killer to stop the trees fruiting.  They don't want to be responsible for constant incidents of broken legs from climbing, etc.  This bothers me the whole summer.  I even had the weird feeling of smelling the presents of chemical pollution in the air?  I hope the local authority changes their mind about the spray in 2018. Oh please...

Ok, so no flowers, no fruits.
Whats about those small ma$$ajii shops around the block?  on holiday. still?
They are supposed to reduce the frustration level by an impressive 99,99%
And whats about the weather /wind condition? any strong eastern, northern wind to disperse those trapped pollutants?
