Well, I am sure you will get some responses quickly on here, especially from those who have been here for a while. Coming from Canada, I choose to change to Scotiabank up there and use Scotiabank here for the ease of transferring money. One thing you will quickly learn is that the second part of your query does not exist - there is no mail systems. For things to be delivery from outside country, it is done by currier - and that is where I am at now - finding the best one for the area you are going to reside in. Good luck and keep checking these forums - lots of threads and advice.....

Hi,

Thanks for the reply - I only asked re banks as I could not see any ref on the site re banks but have just found them under a sub heading so apologies to the old guys and gals on the block for my newbie inexperience - I can see from earlier postings that I might expect some incoming so to speak :)
Still Scotia seemed the obvious 'safe choice but having banked with them before they werent great but ? safer than local banks maybe but hey I really dont know hence the request for feedback guys

I was told in Canada that although operating under DR regulations, still have safeguards as in Canada ref fraud, bankruptcy etc. as it is part and parcel of charter

All the 'INTERNATIONAL" BANKS HERE ARE OWNED & OPERATED BY Dominicans under Dominican banking laws, They are not just like your banks at home. I've used & been satisfied with Banco Santa Cruz here in Sosua for 16 years.  Mail service is an oxymoron.  Don't apologize, keep asking questions. As you discovered that there are threads on almost any topic you can imagine. Welcome to the site & the DR.
