Living in Runda and Nairobi

Post new topic

Hello,

I'm French and teaching English in South East France. since I'm about to apply for a teaching job at an International school in Runda I'm looking for all sorts of information about life in Nairobi for a single woman (I'm 53 and divorced). Since I don't know anything about Kenya apart commom images of elephants (which I love :)) and lions or zebras,  could anyone inform me about life there ? I have already lived abroad for several years (England - no lions there :) - , USA _ Haiti - no lions nor zebra there either :) ) and I am pretty adaptable. I think housing will be provided by the school  and the salary seems quite reasonable by French standards but could you tell me about the cost and living conditions in Nairobi please ? I'm pretty adaptable and live a simple life (I kwow I can survive the lack of Camembert and Cotes du Rhone wine) , always eager to discover the locals' way of life when I travel abroad. Looking forward to readind  from you. Lydia

hi, so there are a great number of social ammenites around there. theres the village market which is nearby depending on where in runda it is that youll br living. you can also find really nice restaurants in gigiri with international cuisines so yull at least have a piece of your home with you.
you can consider joining a meetup whereby youll have a chance of meeting and talking with people who are discovering nairobi by meeting on some weekends and hanging out.
plus if you really want to experience the 'local kenyan' experience, you should be open to ideas and not afraid to have a god time.

lots of luck!
