SAUDI MEDICALS FOR VISA AND EXAM FOR UK NURSES

Post new topic

Hi everyone

I am a UK trained nurse and have recently been offered a job in a Saudi hospital. However now in the final stages of the recruitment process I have been told to pay for my own medical which is REALLY expensive!! and also that I would have to pay for my own licensing exam to register to work! total costs are absurd just to start a job.

I was wondering if any of my fellow UK nurses or international western nurses have had the same experience. I am having second thoughts as I don't believe that you should have to pay and go through such hassle for a job. I was also under the impression that the costs would be covered by the hospital and only found that this would not  be the case after months of going through the recruitment process. If anyone can help or has any advice it would be appreciated.

I have  recently heard of recruitment agencies asking for money as part  of a fraud scheme, so this has me even more worried.

Jobs that ask you to pay are usually scams.
Watch out for free email address and check all contact details match the ones on the hospital's site.
You might also note, some scammers set up fake sites, copying all but contact details, those being substituted for their own.
Easy to spot if you look carefully.
If you need help, I'll be happy to do so.

the recruitment agency appears to be genuine as  they are not asking for money directly to them but I would be paying for the medical privately. The medical is not a standard one it is quite in depth which is why the cost is almost double than a standard medical. I just don't understand why the hospital does not cover these costs including the exams.

The fact that this was mentioned after the long process of supplying dozens of documentation, referees and a million of other things that they asked for, makes it even more frustrating. I just wanted to know whether anyone else has had the same experience, particularly nurses currently in the recruitment process. I am torn between having to pay nearly £1000 for medical and exams and declining the offer altogether.
