How to follow up with LHDN for tax return?

Hi All,

Recently I moved back to India after 10 months of work in Penang. While returning I submitted forms for tax return in Penang, but however my file is transferred to Johar Bahru (as my company's communication address was Johar Bahru in leaver's form).

I submitted tax documents in LHDN penang in Jan-2018 and I was assured that I will get tax clearance/acknowledgement withing 10 working days. But I didn't get any response before I leave Malaysia. Almost after one and half month waiting I contacted LHDN Penang through phone and got to know that my file is in Johar Bahru. After so much  of struggle finally I reached a person in LHDN Johar Bahru who was looking into my file. Once I requested him to finalize the tax documents, again he took around 3 weeks of time to clear the tax and sent a mail by saying 'X' amount will be refunded to me. Was waiting for a week again, by looking into my account to get credited but nothing happened. After asking the concerned person for reimbursement, I got reply by saying it will take 14-21 working days to credit the amount. Again waited for 21 days and asked for the updates, but this time they said they have already sent a cheque to the comapny's address (2 weeks before). Since that address is my company's consultant adrress, they are not able to trace the courier and the LHDN people is not responding now. Its been almost 4 months now after I submitted all the documents in LHDN Penang.

Please suggest me what can I do now?

Thanks in advance,
Praveen.

Cheques are only valid for 3 months in Malaysia. Once the 3 months is up LHDN can trace whether the cheque has been cleared. If not they could issue a replacement cheque and you could inform them which address to send it to.

There is a customer care number here http://www.hasil.gov.my/bt_goindex.php? … ;bt_sequ=1

Check the LHDN for email addresses and escalate the matter.
