Greetings guys!
I was a student in Malaysia, and completed my course. Some urgent work brought me back to India, but I forgot to get my student visa cancelled. Actually I didn't have the pre planning to go thrruvh the process, I just booked flight ad flew home to my ailing mom.
Now I need to cancel the visa... I can return but I see no point staying there through the cancellation process... Now that all my work is done.
I need ideas what I can do.
Thanks in advance.

When does the Student Pass expire?  The passport is required to shorten the Pass. It may be if you are not expecting to work in Malaysia to let it just expire.

Thanks for the response, visa expires July 3. I am not sure if I will work in Malaysia, at the same time I don't want issues with immigration in the future. Can I shorten the visa from my home country?

Also if I plan to work in Malaysia, not cancelling student visa can create problems? Can you tell me what kind of problems I will face? I put an enquiry on emgs, reply awaited.

Gravitas

Your passport has to be submitted to immigration for cancellation. Only issue was whether employer would be applying for an employment pass before expiry date.

ankamun

Am sorry, I didn't get you, if the employer applies for employment pass after expiry there will be no problem, except of course the personal bond amount will be forfeited. please elaborate. Thanks on advance.

Gravitas

Your course provider is probably the best place to enquire about the personal bond.

ankamun

I agree with you, I will put a mail and ask them too.

I also saw this recently in the MDEC requirements:

Completion Letter from University in Malaysia -The letter should be issued by the university mentioned in the current Student Pass sticker in applicant’s passport.

In any event it would be good to enquire what endorsements or certified true copies (authentication) the educational provider than help with to aid EP applications.
