Hi,

My wife applied for the visa at VFS Bangalore in March 2018. I want to know how long does it take to get the visa. i have read sometimes it takes 3 or 4 months. Is it true or does it take longer? Is there anyway to speed up the process? I really need some suggestion and help!!

Plenty of discussions on this topic in: https://www.expat.com/forum/256-3-visas-belgium.html

All concludes in: Yes, it can take 4 months or longer. No way to speed up the process unfortunately :(

Hi,

Yes, typically it takes 4 months but it is not confirmed.
My spouse applied in January 2018 in Mumbai. Her file reached Belgium in 1st week of Feb and her visa was approved in the last week of May.

All the best!!!

Hi All,

It would be very great if i get some updates on below query!!
thanks in advance for your response.
I am living in Brussels from  5th September 2017 and got married in Feb 2018.

I have applied for dependent visa for my spouse on July 17th July 2018 through my company.
Now i have got a update that as i have applied for 365 days as a period of stay for my spouse in the visa application hence they have kept it on hold and it is been sent to Belgium ministry for approval.
They have mentioned that the decision can take a maximum of 6 month but I am not sure how and on what basis the files will be sent for Belgium ministry approval ?

How long it usually take ?( I mean minimum or maximum timelines as per your experience)
Kindly let me know on what basis file are sent to Belgium ministry approval ? is it because  i have stayed here for more than 6 months ?

NOTE :
I have submitted all the documents including legalized rental agreement having my name alone still I am not sure how and on what basis the files will be sent to ministry of Belgium.

There is no predefined criteria as such, based on which consulate sends the application to Belgium for decision making. Nowadays almost all applications are sent to Belgium.

Thanks for the update.

Also kindly let me know how to track the status as i see that in dofi site my application is still  not appearing.
And what is the Minimum processing period(i mean how many days) from belgium ministry

aneesh

After the file is sent from consulate it takes a month or a month and half for it to start reflecting in DOFI website. Be patient :) That is all you can do now. Processing time on an average is 3 months. There are cases where a decision was made in 2-3 weeks too. It all depends on the enquiries the ministry has to make (they need to collect feedback from multiple departments and the overall turn around time depends on the time taken in this process).

Thanks a lot for the feedback :)

Hello,

This might be a little out of topic. My wife came here on a tourist visa and will be going back to india and applying for a dependent visa. I have included her name in the house contract and she has signed it as well. As I hear it should only be on my name. But, I have included her name too. Will this be of a problem.? If someone in this forum has done something similar, please clarify.

Best regards,
Naveen Hariprasad
