Hello,

Legal services can be a headache when you don't have the relevant and necessary information, especially upon moving to a new country. Please share some tips regarding legal services in Bulgaria.

What types of legal services might an expat need in Bulgaria?

Are legal services easily accessible?

What are the best ways to go about finding a professional for your legal needs in Bulgaria? (e.g. online, yellow pages, word of mouth)?

What are the most affordable options for legal services (private, public, etc.)? Is there a range regarding fees?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

So far we needed once a legal service, and that was when we purchased our house. The transaction needs to be done by a notary AND a translator, which is required by the law. This is, that all involved parties are informed about the content of the legal document.
Our notary was located in the Chirpan municipality (Stara Zagora), our realtor had everything very well arranged.
If again in need of a legal service, I would consult either our realtor again, or the translator which we know since more then one year to help us getting our residence permit and state health insurance. I trust them more then the yellow pages.

Legal services are 2 types :
first one is for legalizing documents or registering documents and in these you have to go to public notary " take your documents and go to anyone of notary (or the closest to you) cause all of them following the same procedures as per the government law and instructions.
But if your documents is not in Bulgarian language, then you should first go to Certified Translator to translate the documents, and if you don't speak Bulgarian you should hire the translator to go with you to notary public.
if you need to make a contract, you should go lawyer it will be better for you to avoid any problem in the future .

second one is for cases front of the court, in this case you should know the lawyer and if you have some trusted friends they will lead you to the best in the country.
