Good morning

Can anyone tell me what the conditions or environment is like in quarantine and for how long we (my babies and I) have to stay there.

You need to elaborate as to exactly what you mean by babies and why you and all have to stay there.

:) i have 2 dogs and 4 cats that I'd be bringing with us which I believe would go into quarintine. The only reason I said I would be with them is because I would hate to be in a comfy bed (which they are all used to) while they are in a cage so to keep them from being scared and feeling alone and ubsure I would want to be with them.  Not sure if I'll get that right but I'd love to be able to visit them to reassure them that I'm still with them and that they'll all be home soon.

Hi Candy Lock,

Quarantine depends on the country of origin, perhaps you could give the authorities a call or send them a mail to enquire : http://agriculture.govmu.org/English/Do … 20-DVS.pdf

As for conditions, the following thread will give you a brief insight : Quarantine facilities in Mauritius for Cats

All the best,

Hi,
I brought my dog Barbi from Macedonia to Mauritius 11 years ago. My dog stayed in quarantine for 3 months. Also this country has a bad law for importing a dog they are taking duty 90% of the price you pay to bring the dog (airplane ticket)  so have money for duty ready.

Before you bring the dogs you need to get import permit for them. You need to go to Reduit and they will give you forms to fill and let you know what to do. Follow their instructions closely. I think they call it "Announce that the dog is coming" and without this they might return or euthanize the dog.

The Kernels are clean. They are cleaning them every day. You can bring Dog beds and blankets. You have to bring plate. I was bringing food to my Barbi every day, They have place where the dog can go for a walk.

The quarantine is stressful for the dogs and for the owners. Some dogs were going out much earlier I don't know why. Barbi even didn't like the treats at the end.
