Hello!  My daughter visited Paris last summer and crossed the street when a motorcycle rounded the corner.  The motorcyclist swerved and damaged his motorcycle.  Now, back in the states, she is receiving notices from his insurance company that she owes him the money to pay for the damages.  She felt bad about his damaged motorcycle and said it was her fault.  (Neither she or the rider was injured.)  We (her parents) feel the insurance company is taking advantage of her by saying she is liable.  What will happen if she doesn't pay this bill?

Welcome on Expat.com JuneMaytaylor,

Thank you!

if she does not answer and does nothing, nothing will happen, they are not going to send someone so far to recover the money... but did she give them her insurance number etc? if yes, she just has to go to her insurance and explain the situation. If no one was injured but the motorcycle was damaged, the owner is trying to get some money for that.

i also believe that the insurance is trying to take advantage of her... but she should never have said that she was responsible if she was not!
