I have been offerred a job in Saudi Arabia but I have heard there may be diffulties when it comes to sending money home every month. Is this the case or does it depend on where you open your bank account?

Also, should I open a bank account here or when I get over there?

Jayk,

You will need to open a bank account in Saudi, for your salary to be paid into.

Sending money back home (Ireland) will not be an issue. Banks offer internet facility and therefore sending to another bank is not difficult. May take about 3 days.

That's good to know, thanks.

I suppose its relatively straight forward to open account then once i'm in the country?

Who are the main Banks there?

Opening bank accounts is straight forward, you will need to sort out your iqama (residence permit) first - your employers should sort this out.

For you the best bank will be SABB - its affiliated with HSBC.

Sure, if you are lucky enough to have an Iqama, otherwise options are really limited.
