Seeking to work for a non-profit

Hello all,

I am an urban planner/grant writer from the US interested in working paid or unpaid for a non-profit who would be interested in sponsoring me. Could you please suggest one that might fit my skillset and/or refer me to some resources on non-profits or charitable organizations? I would like to live in Copenhagen or just outside Copenhagen in Fredericksberg but open to other cities.

I am 58 with several years of grant writing experience, a certified planner in the US, and a master gardener. My professional interests are very broad and I feel I could do grant writing for just about any organization. However, I like doing projects involving urban agriculture and community/economic development that help the poor and disinfranchised.

I have a good pension and investments that would allow me to live comfortably and independent from the state and I can purchase my own health insurance if needed. Although I am more than willing to do unpaid work for a good cause to gain entry into Denmark, it would be nice to be paid if that is possible. :-)

Any help or ideas are appreciated. Thank you in advance! :-)

Tim

I cannot see that your plans are feasable. :(

Take a look here: https://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/You-want-to-apply

Right. I did see that but I also saw this which was encouraging:

I think I should probably talk to someone in the consulate for more details.

Well, once this link is finally unlocked, you can see it!

It is possible if we are talking about unpaid jobs, but I must admit I was somewhat confused by your wording about being sponsored.

I have googled frivillige job organisationer to see what popped up. Actually, I don't think above links are what you are looking for. But take a look. As you doesn't speak/write Danish, it might be better to look for international organisations located in Copenhagen, such as The Red Cross, UN-organisations ...

Good luck

Thank you for the information, Nellie! :)

What I meant by "sponsored" is it appears that I would need an organization to agree to hire me before I entered Denmark and that would need to be approved. I am very open to doing this kind of work for free as I have my own funds to live on. The organization would benefit because they would be getting money through my grant writing work at no cost to them. However if they would like to pay me, I would have no problem with that either.  ;)

The links that you sent were very helpful. Thanks again.

A little more digging gave these hits which are more relevant to your wishes than yesterday's hits:

And this community is in a crisis for survival due to their economy:

This may be your chance!

These look great. Very helpful links that I perused. The organic farming and sustainability projects look very interesting to me. I am somewhat concerned with the language barrier. Danish does seem challenging to me. I am checking out UN jobs as well.

Thanks again!!  :|
