Fellow expats,

I made this simplified guide on how to go about getting CPR in Copenhagen/Frederiksberg for EU citizens, after hitting the wall multiple times. This is based on my own experience, please feel free to contact me in case of doubts.

EU citizen and Family

Residence permit:
Go to the statsforvaltningen, with the OD1 form complete, work contract, Employer declaration (Appendiks A - OD1), 2 passport photos, original documents, marriage certificate (simple - translated and apostilled). Register for EU residence permit. For the EU citizen, it is almost immediate.

Tax card:
Fill in the form. The state administration will send the tax card to your house IF your name is in the mailbox. If not, it can be obtained from the International house afterwards.

For CPR:
First you need the Residence Permit.
- If you are living in Frederiksberg:
Go to the site https://www.frederiksberg.dk/en/english - "Registration and CPR ..." section and follow to steps. Schedule a time and date at https://frederiksberg.reservertid.nu/Start/1288 to present the documents.
- if you are not living in Frederiksberg
Apply for CPR online at http://icitizen.dk/ and schedule a date for going there in person to present the  documents.

Cheers!

Thanks for that input.

Do you have guidance on this for self-employed people? I'm running into a catch-22 loop here:

he documentation on nyidanmark.dk states that I should first register a business in order to receive a residence permit for freelancers.

However, If I'm not mistaken, I first need a CPR number and Nem-ID to register as a self-employed in Denmark. It seems that there is a loop of events I don't understand.

Is there a way to obtain an EU residence permit for the self-employed without having registered the one-man company in Denmark?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

The link you are trying to use is over 4 years old; this link will take you to the current tax card website, at the bottom are their contact details.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

Thank you so much for the step by step guide. I am also now in the middle of the process to move to Copenhagen and I have a question, in case anyone can help.

For the OD1 form they require you to put already a Danish address. However, my employment contract only starts in September and I am currently searching for apartments in Copenhagen (to start living there from 01.09.2022). My question is to avoid paying double rent (with Airbnb or hotel in Copenhagen), is it possible to provide a friends address in Copenhagen to start the EU residence permit process? Because finding an aparment there will take me possibly the next 2 months.

And if this is possible, do I need some official document stating that I am living temporarily at a friends address? Or can I just simply put the address in the OD1 form?

Thanks a lot for all the help if you have an idea about the EU residence permit process 1f609.svg
