Travelling to Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait by own car

Dear all,

I live in Hofuf and would like to drive to Dubai, Bahrain, or Kuwait over some weekend. I have a Pakistani passport and my work Iqama with me. Can anyone please guide me on the costs involved and the procedures (along with processing times) for obtaining a visa for each of these countries? I have friends in Dubai and Kuwait.

Bahrain:
You can get visa on arrival by paying 5 BD after showing Saudi Iqama on the Bahrain-Saudi causeway.  This is valid for a shorter period.  Or you can pay 25 BD for a one month visa.

Kuwait:
It is very difficult for Pakistani's to get visa to Kuwait.  While they have removed the ban that was in place since 2011, getting a visa now, requires a lot of influence and someone has to help you get it.  You can't apply online and you won't get visa on arrival.

UAE:
As a GCC resident, you need to apply for a visa in advance on amer.ae.

In all cases, to travel via your car; you need permission to take the car out of Saudi which can be generated online and an exit re-entry visa for all of the passengers.

Many thanks for such a comprehensive reply. Any idea how much does UAE visa application cost and how long is the processing time?

I think it's around 250 AED and the time varies from 1 hour to 2 weeks - I have experienced both :)
