Wow, welcome you to Nong Lam university. I heard there are a lot of small hotel nearby Nong Lam areas where you can find and stay during your internship. Otherwise i saw you prefer to stay in District 1, yes, they have a lot of guesthouse and hostel which suitable for low budget like you. But from District 1 ( as Pham Ngu Lap areas) you will hard to catch a bus to your university. So i could recommend you to come and stay nearby bus station where they can drive you to Nong Lam university. One more thing, if you know how to drive motorbike surely you will not mind about distance. I saw a lot of budget hotel in "3 Thang 2" street, " Su Van Hanh" street which you could request long term stay and easy to catch bus from there.
If you feel hard to find that, let leave me message and i will help you to find out the way to do better.

I'm living in a house with 4 other expats. It's in the central of District 1 on Le Thanh Ton Street. It's near a lot of restaurants, pubs, supermarkets ect. I'm leaving for Dalat in a few days so the room will be available then. If you're interested, give me a call at: 01234 434 601.

There's no lease at this place and the rent is $210 per month so it might be what you're looking for.
